This famous recording has now been reissued at budget price and it is of course extremely welcome on all counts. Manze's delightful playing brings ravishing colour and zest to the outer movements of these evergreen concertos whilst he is more than ably supported by the genial Ton Koopman and his excellent Amsterdam players.
The two Oboe Concertos also receive fine interpretations by Marcel Ponseele who gets to the heart of the matter in almost effortless resolve. Excellent sound and presentation round off a most desirable disc.
