I Musici
Philips Duo 473310-2 130m DDD
This is an extremely welcome reissue of some rare Vivaldi concertos by 'I Musici', recorded in splendid sound on the DUO label.
The concertos have a varied and widely colourful palette and they come alive in this splendidly effusive recording that belies its age.
Michael Talbot's notes are a model of clarity and concise efficacy and they do make essential reading. Speeds are generally slow but I Musici are no slouches in the outer movements either.
I have nothing but praise for this set and definitely recommend it to all lovers of Vivaldi's music.
