AS&V's Ockeghem edition concludes with this splendidly radiant version of the two masses, 'Sine Nomine and 'Au Travail Suis', compositions that find the composer in hallowed form. Indeed Fabrice Fitch tells us that these works stem from the composer's maturity. The eerie mystical nature of the other motets and shorter pieces on disc has generated some authorship doubts but the style is intrinsically Ockeghem throughout. The short Missa Sine Nomine must be incomplete as it only stops at the Credo (although Fitch queries this) whilst the Missa au Travail Suis has all the splendour of celebration that was so typical of Ockeghem in his finest moments. The Clerk's Group has done the scared music repertoire, an irreplaceable service with their mammoth 9-disc traversal of this composer's music and in the final volume; the musicians are indeed on top form. Full texts and translations are included and the atmospheric woodcut cover blends perfectly with the musical fare. A fine conclusion to what has been a monumental traversal of Flemish 15th century church music.
