As the most famous world tournament takes a complete stranglehold on our senses this interesting collection of football history is a worthwhile bet. Brian Glanville is one of those legendary sports correspondents who has been around for decades and has seen the world of football transformed from the dignified amateur to the star studded professional millionaires that host today's game.

Each tournament is described candidly and factually with Bob Wilson, ex-Arsenal goalkeeper and world famous sports commentator providing the charismatic readings. Football fans will obviously know the later results inside out but it is deeply interesting to hear about long forgotten names resurrected to life again, names like Schiaffino, Puskas, Kahn, Piola and Schroiff. The famous matches are recreated with fine detail and the whole package also includes the legendary Bobby Charlton with his reminiscences.

There is an obvious English bias in the whole set but for someone who is just coming to the game will find this set a fine introduction and for the seasoned football fans it will definitely provide excellent entertainment.
