This delightful two-disc set is definitely one for those who are just starting out their Mozart collection. You really cannot go wrong with such immaculate performances beautifully shaped by the inventive Nicholas Cleobury and his equally superb team of soloists.

The evergreen Clarinet Concerto is beautifully played by Michael Whight who brings a palpable tone to proceedings especially in the miraculous slow movement. Martin Owen is also a joyful and highly accomplished interpreter of the 4th Horn Concerto with the Divertimento for Strings sailing along in true Maag like fashion.

The second disc contains the other three wind concertos omitting the second one for flute. Andrew Nicholson is a fine interpreter of the Flute Concerto with the Oboe Concerto similarly well played by John Anderson. I recall discovering this work on a long forgotten EMI CFP tape with the London Symphony and the late lamented Vernon Handley in attendance – this version has similarly fine qualities.

Finally Daniel Jemison plays the Bassoon Concerto (a re-working of the Oboe work) to the manner born to round off this disc in superb fashion. Recording and presentation are of the highest quality and I really do recommend this set to anyone who loves Mozart or who is waiting to discover the composer's endless charms.
