The romantic opening theme that sets the scene for this core is typical Warbeck, an emotionally inflexed tune of great beauty and sentimental charm. The music score is then built around this infectious tune which develops in such episodes as 'To Albania' and the expansive, 'Horgota Beach', both filled with a deep sense of nostalgic longing. Warbeck paints a picture of nonchalance and loveliness in the dream like world of this wonderful Greek setting with guitars and mandolins providing the accompanying atmosphere. The score also includes a host of popular Italian songs from days gone by.
All in all, this is a marvelously atmospheric soundtrack, full of a certain rapturous beauty and affinity with a love story that could so easily have been true. I was not as impressed by the film itself but the music is definitely one of Warbeck's better film scores.
