After an almost three year wait, Hyperion's delightful British Light Music series returns with its fourth volume that proves the immortality of this lovely genre.

An important addition to the repertoire is definitely Corp's loving interpretation of Coleridge taylor's 'Petite Suite de Concert', immortalized in George Weldon's famous EMI recording and one of my first discoveries as a teenage music lover! There are other famous works that receive sumptuous treatment, amongst others, Ketelbey's 'In a Monastery Garden', Curzon's 'Dance of an Ostracized Imp' and the sensually languorous, 'By the Sleepy Lagoon' from Eric Coates.

Ronald Corp chooses sensibly and most of the other light music names are also present, names such as Ancliffe, Rosse, Beaver and John Foulds with his lovely 'Keltic Lament' amongst the most beautiful works on this disc.

Each piece is played with supreme sensitivity and dedication and the recordings are also top-drawer quality. The front cover is also singularly delightful and blends well with the previous issues. I still think that Volume 2 was the best in this series but as they go on, you just can't resist the temptation of snapping em' up!
