Seta Tanyel's famous Collins recordings of Scharwenka's piano music have thankfully been resurrected on the Hyperion Helios label and they do make great bargains from all aspects.
This third volume contains several great works that demonstrate the prowess of Tanyel, an alluring pianist to say the least. She brings definite charm and mystery to the evocative Polish Dances whilst the Variations are also despatched with consummate ease.
Although many lament the now defunct Collins label (One of my first review assignments included this disc in its original guise), Hyperion are to be congratulated for saving this series from oblivion as they have done with the Moskowski issues. If you didn't get them first time round, grab them as they are too good to miss!
