Dutton is doing Mantovani enthusiasts a sterling service by reissuing most of his material from the early 50's in several CDs that generally combine a couple of albums.

This latest offering includes some of the most favourite melodies such as 'Stradivarius', 'Gold and Silver Waltz' and the magnificent arrangement of 'Cavalleria Rusticana'. The Mantovani magic seeps through every piece, all the works are imparted that certain sensuous array of beauty that is particular to this Latin master.

The recording is quite astonishingly clear, considering that most of the recordings emanate from Decca's West Hampstead Studios from 1953-56. Everyone may have his/her own favourite but this stunningly produced double album will definitely go down a treat with all who love light music. Donald Southwall and Norbert Costello are entertaining annotators and the package carries the usual Dutton quality.
