Erica Morini provides superb renditions of two popular concertos under the erstwhile baton of the lamented Ferenc Fricsay. But pride of place must be dedicated to this exceptional performance of the Dvořák Concerto with Johanna Martzy on top form. She brings a wonderful delicacy and feminine gracefulness to proceedings and makes light of the Dvořákian technical brilliance that is thrown at the soloist. She receives amply supportive accompaniment from Fricsay and the Berlin orchestra who are on top form especially the wonderful woodwind section. The mono recording is also amply fresh and astonishingly detailed.

The Bruch and Glazunov are on a lower key but Morini is no less a colourful soloist than Martzy and she imparts a deep sense of virtuosity to the famous Bruch, especially in the swift Finale. The Glazunov is also well interpreted although Oistrakh is not displaced. This is an excellent collection of concertos showing Fricsay's supreme gifts also as an accompanist.
