If you're into arrangements for guitar duo, then this is the disc for you. The strangely titled GothenburgCombo are no other than the talented David Hansson and Thomas Hanssy who, according to the bio notes in the CD booklet, have already taken the Swedish musical world by storm and when you hear the music performed here, you'll realize that this is certainly no dupe.
They have a particular affinity for Spanish or French Spanish inspired music (the title is a case in point) as can be heard in the Albéniz, de Falla and Debussy items which are beautifully suited to a guitar duo, But Hansson and Hanssy are also dab hands at exploring other rather rare transcriptions such as Brahms' Intermezzo Op. 118 and parts of Bach's "Musical Offering". The folksongs from Sweden are as is to be expected, beautifully played.
The disc's presentation is very attractive as is the recording which is simply perfect both in ambience and in clarity. This is one for a hot sultry afternoon, with the soft twangs of guitars playing away and releasing one from tension and the hustle and bustle of today's world. Buy it!
