This is another fine collection of music that brings together almost all the works that Dvořák wrote for the cello. Arts have engaged an exciting young soloist who is surely to be heard of in the future.

The Cello Concerto is given a fine expansive reading which matches with the very best. The first Allegro is judiciously paced by Nowak who encourages his young soloists to play his heart out and it shows in the level of commitment obtained.

The beautiful Adagio is also very well played and comparing Yang with Rostropovich's famous DG account with Karajan did not seem so far away. I also enjoyed the romping Finale that is extremely well done with the recording also very good. This is surely one of the best accounts of the concerto to be released lately.

The short works are a welcome accompaniment although they are nothing to write home about. The Polonaise is finely played while the exquisitely titled 'Silent Woods' is also given a creditable performance. Finally the Rondo in G minor is an excellent way to round off a disc. Apart from some qualms on the rather short playing time, this is a disc to treasure for some excellent cello playing.
