This is another delightful CD in the continuing plethora of music that is being discovered by AS&V in their 'British' series.
Purcell's 'Set of Act Tunes and dances' is most memorably arranged by Sir Arthur Bliss and the RBS are game to such swagger and pomp! The orchestra also play with reflective mellowness in the warlock and Delius items, both treasurable miniatures.
I greatly enjoyed Glyn's 'Anglesey Sketches' that are positively replete with melodies and boisterous good humour whilst the Elgar suite is the only really famous piece on this well-filled disc.
Philip Lane and Matthew Curtis are two excellent contemporary composers who also reveal their prowess in these pieces. On the whole, this is another lovely addition to the catalogue.
