Originally written for harpsichord or flute and violin the way it sounds here you are convinced that they were really for harp and violin. One of the things I like most about St. John's playing is that no matter who she's with it sounds like everyone is having a great time making music. This was true in her recording of Vivaldi's Four Seasons played with the Simon Bolivar Youth Orchestra of Venezuela (coupled with Piazzolla's The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires) I heard when it first came out. I recommend that as well.
The harp emerges almost tentatively from the silence and is followed by an emerging violin. I'd not heard this music before so have no comparisons but this is just amazing music making. I cannot tell you how many evenings I've enjoyed this music, the smile it brought to my face. If you are a serious collector of classical music you simply MUST hear this. Sound is phenomenal.
