Gidon Kremer's stellar live performance of Brahms' Violin Concerto has long been one of the finest versions available and in its new incarnation on Warner's Maestro label it is almost self recommending.
The Double Concerto is somewhat less well known but it still receives a deeply committed performance from Kremer as well as Hagen who plumb the depths of this concerto with aplomb. Harnoncourt is a masterful accompanist throughout and Warner's recording is absolutely first rate.
