This is a most delightful disc that features some of the most beautiful hunting music pieces from a vast repertoire. The French Hunting Music is a collection of 12 pieces that were supposedly used for the Grand Royal Hunt and the music is as pompous as one would expect.
Richter's 6 Quartets for 4 Handhorns are also pleasant to listen to whilst Harry Hofer's Mass #1 is a beautiful work for 10 Handhorns and 3 Alphorns that is quite unusual. I have no qualms with the excellent playing of the Deutsche Naturhornsolisten although over 50 minutes of the same music may be slightly tiring on the ear.
